我的课程是针对那些学习和美国历史相关课程的学生以及让学生们学会解决来自他们专业学习的问题时所使用的思考方法。
My classes are designed to give students grounding in the subject matter of U .S . history and in major interpretive questions that derive from the study of selected themes.
尽管从死记硬背名字和日期中并不能学到什么，学生必须学会总结庞大的，系统的知识，这样才能最好地，有效地练习分析能力。教授实际的知识和批判、精密的分析中找到平衡对于教师要求很高。但是这个平衡是我的历史课程中最重要的部分。
Although there is little to be gained by rote memorization of names and dates in an encyclopaedic manner, a student must be able to draw upon a reservoir of systematic factual knowledge in order to exercise analytic skills intelligently. Striking a balance between teaching factual knowledge and critical analysis is a demanding but crucial task in the design of my course in history.
